This is Pioneer's newest model and replaces the Pioneer DV-490V. The new model has all the same features and adds a USB input to allow you to plug in a device to view audio and video files from it. It also adds a 1080p output with HDMI while the DV-490 only had the 1080i output. 1080p players can also be set to lower resolutions such as 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and of course 1080p. The 1080p is a higher resolution output than the 1080i. Other upgrades include compatibility with a great amount of video and audio formats including MPG4, Dual Layer DVD-R/+R, along with many other recorded video files. Furthermore it has a better Pal to NTSC video converter, of 18mb.

Pioneer's DV400VK gives you strikingly crisp, smooth playback with all your DVD movies, concerts, and TV show box sets. If you've got a high-definition TV with a digital video input, this player can upgrade or "upconvert" its picture to match your TV screen's higher resolution. The digital video connection helps keep signals pure, giving you better image quality — especially with today's popular plasma, LCD, and DLP televisions.

This compact player is also equipped with a full set of analog video connections, so even if your TV doesn't have a digital video input, you can still enjoy a great DVD picture. You can also listen to your favorite tunes on audio CDs and home-made MP3 and WMA (Windows® Media Audio) mix discs. Digital audio outputs let you connect this player to your home theater system to enjoy exciting surround sound.

Even if you don't yet own a HD or HD ready TV, this dvd player is a excellent choice to use with any TV, and you will not need to replace it when and if you replace your current TV.
